A Single Man continues!

January 14, 2010

From fashion mogul–and first time film director–Tom Ford comes A Single Man, starring Colin Firth and Julianne Moore.  This expertly photographed 1960’s period drama follows one man’s hazy existence in the aftermath of great loss, and could mean an Oscar nod for Firth who is garnering a huge amount of buzz in the title role.  Any anglophiles jonesing for a classy scandal?

Two new films for 1/8

January 7, 2010

We’ve got two extremely disparate film experiences for the upstate this weekend!  First up is Oscar contender The Young Victoria, featuring rising star Emily Blunt in the title role.  The film chronicles the rise of the young matriarch as she swings between struggles of both political and romantic power.  Second, we bring you Heath Ledger’s final foray, The Imaginarum of Dr. Parnassus.  This visually striking fantasy employs many different actors to tell the story of one shape-shifting con-man on the run from the devil.  Both start @ Cherrydale cinema Friday, 1/8/2010.
